Sculptra® isn't a traditional filler. Instead of simply filling a line or adding volume on the day of treatment, Sculptra works with your body to help stimulate new collagen production - collagen helps support skin firmness, smoothness, and structure. Results develop gradually over the weeks after treatment and can last up to two years, for a refreshed look that still looks like you.

At Treuvis Med Spa in Clinton Township, Sculptra treatments are performed by licensed nurse injectors under the oversight of our physician Medical Director, in a warm, welcoming space designed to feel nothing like a clinic waiting room.

Serving clients in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, Shelby Township, Macomb Township, and the greater Macomb County area.

What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable made by Galderma, the same company behind Dysport® and Restylane®. Its active ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA), a biocompatible material that has been used in medicine for decades.

Sculptra belongs to a category of treatments called biostimulators. Rather than adding volume with a gel, it helps stimulate your skin's own collagen production. It was the first, and is the original, FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid facial injectable.

Why does collagen matter? According to Galderma, adults lose about 1% of their collagen each year after age 20. Over time, that loss can show up as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and a loss of facial fullness. Sculptra is designed to address the appearance of aging caused by that collagen loss.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Sculptra is reconstituted with sterile water before treatment. Your injector then carefully places the product in the appropriate treatment areas.

Here's what happens next:

  • Right after treatment: You may notice some fullness, but much of it is from the water used to mix the product. This fades within a few days.

  • Over the following weeks: The poly-L-lactic acid prompts your body to start producing new collagen.

  • Over the following months: Collagen continues to build gradually, helping restore the skin's structure and improve firmness and smoothness.

Because the change comes from your own collagen, results tend to look soft and natural rather than "done." That's also why Sculptra is usually done as a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart.

What Can Sculptra Help With?

Common Sculptra treatment areas including cheeks, smile lines and marionette lines at Treuvis Med Spa in Clinton Township, MI

Sculptra is FDA-approved for people with healthy immune systems to correct shallow to deep smile lines (nasolabial folds), fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek area, and other facial wrinkles.

Sculptra may help improve the appearance of:

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)

  • Fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek area

  • Other facial wrinkles

  • Loss of facial firmness associated with collagen loss

  • Overall skin quality and glow

Your injector will assess your face and recommend whether Sculptra is the right fit, and which areas to treat. Individual results may vary.

Sculptra vs. Dermal Filler: What's the Difference?

Both are injectables, but they work in very different ways. Treuvis offers both, so your injector can recommend the right one, or a combination, for your goals.

Sculptra Results Timeline: When Will I See Results?

Sculptra rewards patience. Here's a general timeline:

  • First few days: Initial fullness from the water used to mix the product fades. This is expected.

  • As early as 1 month: Early improvement may begin to show as new collagen forms.

  • Over the next few months: Results continue to build gradually, especially as you complete your treatment series.

  • Up to 2 years: Results from a completed treatment plan can last up to two years.

Because results build over time, your injector won't try to "overcorrect" at your appointment. Contour changes are expected to improve gradually after treatment. Individual results may vary.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Sculptra?

Sculptra may be a good fit if you:

  • Are an adult with a healthy immune system

  • Notice fine lines, wrinkles, or smile lines that have deepened over time

  • Want to improve firmness and skin quality, not just fill one line

  • Prefer gradual, natural-looking results over an instant change

  • Want longer-lasting results and are comfortable with a series of sessions

Sculptra May Not Be Right for You If You:

  • Are allergic to any ingredient in Sculptra

  • Have a history of keloids or hypertrophic (raised) scarring

  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 (safety has not been established)

  • Have an active skin sore, cyst, pimple, rash, hives, or infection in the treatment area (treatment is postponed until it heals)

Your injector will review your medical history and goals during your consultation before any treatment.

What to Expect at Your Sculptra Appointment

Your Consultation:

Every Sculptra treatment at Treuvis starts with a one-on-one consultation. Your injector will look at your facial structure and skin, talk about your goals, review your medical history, and build a treatment plan, including how many vials and sessions are likely to help you reach your goals.

During Treatment:

  • Appointments are about 1 hour

  • The treatment area is cleansed, and numbing is used for comfort

  • Your injector places Sculptra in precise areas using a fine needle or cannula

  • The area is massaged to help distribute the product evenly

After Treatment:

Most clients return to normal activities the same day. Your injector will give you personalized aftercare instructions, which often include:

  • Massaging the treated area as directed. Many injectors recommend the "5-5-5" method: about 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days

  • Applying a cloth-wrapped cold pack for a few minutes at a time during the first 24 hours to help with swelling. Never apply ice directly to the skin.

  • Avoiding heavy sun and heat exposure until any redness or swelling resolves

  • Following up as scheduled for your next session

Possible Side Effects of Sculptra

Like any injectable, Sculptra has possible side effects. The most common after treatment include:

  • Swelling, tenderness, or redness at the injection site

  • Pain, bruising, bleeding, or itching

  • Lumps at the injection site

Some people may also notice small lumps under the skin that can be felt when pressing on the area. Larger lumps, sometimes with delayed onset and with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported. Choosing a trained, licensed injector and following aftercare instructions matters. If you have any concerns after treatment, call us.

Frequently Asked Questions - Sculptra in Clinton Township

Is Sculptra a filler?

Sculptra is often grouped with fillers, but it works differently. Traditional hyaluronic acid fillers add volume right away. Sculptra is a biostimulator: it helps stimulate your body's own collagen, so results develop gradually over time.

How long does Sculptra last?

Results from a completed Sculptra treatment plan can last up to two years. Individual results vary based on your age, skin, lifestyle, and the number of vials and sessions in your plan.

When will I see results from Sculptra?

Results develop gradually, with improvement seen as early as one month after treatment. Results continue to build over the following months as new collagen forms.

How many vials or sessions of Sculptra will I need?

It depends on your goals, the areas treated, and how much collagen loss you have. Most plans involve more than one vial and a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart. Your injector will give you a personalized recommendation at your consultation.

How much does Sculptra cost at Treuvis?

Sculptra is $825 per vial at Treuvis Med Spa, with a discount for clients who need multiple vials. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to book. Pricing is subject to change.

Does Sculptra hurt?

Most clients describe Sculptra as mild discomfort. Numbing is used to keep you comfortable, and the appointment takes about an hour.

Is there downtime after Sculptra?

Most people return to normal activities the same day. Swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising at the injection sites is common and usually temporary.

Can Sculptra be used in the lips or under the eyes?

No. Sculptra should not be injected into the red part of the lips or the area around the eyes. For lip enhancement, Treuvis offers hyaluronic acid lip filler and the lip flip.

Can I combine Sculptra with Dysport®, Daxxify®, or filler?

Often, yes. Sculptra helps rebuild collagen, neuromodulators like Dysport and Daxxify soften expression lines, and fillers add targeted volume. Your injector will recommend a plan that fits your goals. Learn more about our Botox alternatives.
